Overview
The China Scholarship Council funds full PhD study at Chinese universities. Type A (bilateral): in Pakistan HEC selects candidates — the 2026-27 round had 15 PhD seats and closed on 5 January 2026. Type B (Chinese University Program): apply to a participating university, which nominates you to CSC with its agency number; many calls run December–February.
Most universities expect a pre-acceptance letter from a supervisor. Applicants must be under 40 and hold a master’s degree.
