About this opportunity
The Chinese Government Scholarship — Bilateral Program (Type A) is funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). In Pakistan, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) selects and nominates Type A candidates. HEC handles Type A only; Type B and other Chinese scholarships are applied for directly.
In the 2026-27 cycle HEC offered 75 seats: 35 for undergraduate (BS), 25 for master’s and 15 for PhD. Applications went through the HEC scholarship portal, which closed on 5 January 2026. The next call is usually announced by HEC near the end of the year — watch the HEC page.
For 2026 and 2027 entry, undergraduate applicants to Chinese Government Scholarship universities must take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA): Mathematics for everyone, Professional Chinese for Chinese-taught programs, and Physics and/or Chemistry for science, engineering, agriculture and medicine.
