December is the main deadline month for merit scholarships at European technical universities. If you plan to start a master’s in September 2027, these are the scholarships on ScholarsChapter you can still apply for — most are linked to your university application, so the admission deadline matters too.
Deadlines in November and December 2026
- ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme — opens 1 November, closes 30 November.
- TU Delft Justus & Louise van Effen Excellence Scholarship — full tuition plus living costs; 1 December.
- Leiden University Excellence Scholarship (LExS) — €10,000–€19,000 off tuition; 1 December.
- Gates Cambridge — for the January round; 8 December (check your course’s own deadline).
- EPFL Master Excellence Fellowships — CHF 10,000 per semester; tick the box in your master’s application by 15 December.
Later in the cycle
- KAUST Fellowship (MS and PhD, Saudi Arabia) — 3 January 2027.
- University of Twente Scholarship — €3,000–€22,000; 1 April 2027 after admission.
- Uppsala Global and Anders Wall scholarships — window expected early 2027.
Before you apply
- Check whether the scholarship needs a separate form or only a tick-box in the admission application.
- Get your degree attested and your English test done — see the documents checklist and the English tests guide.
- Write a programme-specific motivation letter — the statement of purpose guide shows how.
